Major Festivals Celebrated at the Temple

Shri Radha Krishna Mandir, Sector-18, Chandigarh, celebrates all the main religious festivals during the year with devotion and enthusiasm.
Below is a list of main festivals which are celebrated in the Mandir.

Basant Panchami

A festival dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, for wisdom, learning and music.

Maha Shivratri

The festival dedicated to worship of Lord Shiva. Special Abhishek and "chaar pehar pooja" is also organised.

Holi

Holika Dehan is the special event on this festival.

Ram Navami

Dedicated to Shri Ram. Ramayan Path is the main attraction of this festivals.

Hanuman Janmotsav

On this festival, the evening time is special dedicated to Shri Ram Bhagat Hanuman, which is followed by Bhandara for the devotees

Nirjala Ekadashi

Dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu by devotees after observing fast and abstination from water also, during the day of the summer month.

Janmashtami

Since the Mandir is named as Shri Radha Krishan Mandir, this is the special festival when grand programe is organised which continues till midnight and Prasad is also distributed.

Navratri

Nine days of worshipping the Goddess, devotional recitations, and music evenings.

Diwali & Ankut

Diwali is celebrated to mark the return of Shri Ram, Mata Sita and Lakshman Ji to Ayodhya after vanvaas of 14 years. There is illumination of deepaks, electrical lighting and music is played . Special Prasad is distributed.


Ankut Prasad is distributed after Govardhan Pooja on the day following diwali.

Tulsi Vivah

Celebrated on the day of symbolic marriage of Bhagwan Vishnu and Mata Tulsi, it is a grand event with all ceremonies befitting a grand marriage , including Barat, Pheras, Kanyadaan and ofcourse Bhandara also.

Radha Ashtami

Celebrated as a mark of remembrance of Radha Rani's birthday. Special Kirtan programe and Pooja ceremony are the special events of this function
